Gramma Rose's Homestead
United States
Приєднався 22 жов 2011
Gramma Rose’s Homestead is a window into the life of a city girl who retired and turned country girl. and so is often a vlog - just taking you along with what I happen to be doing on any given day. Sometimes it’s fun stuff like knitting or spinning, or tying flies with the feathers from my flock of chickens. I’d like to think I might pass on some of this knowledge on to people like me or to younger generations and make their lives easier. There, I’ve said it. I’m retirement age. I’m not particularly more smart or wise than anyone else, I’ve just lived longer and have had more time to learn things, and have the wrinkles to prove it.
My intention is to publish five new videos each week, however, anything that gets done here gets done by me. So, sometimes life gets in the way and a week or more may go by without me posting a new video. I apologize in advance. I wish like anything that didn’t happen.

Yet Another Way to Plant Small Seeds
Here's an easy way to plant small seeds that helps to prevent crowding. Think of it as adding a cup of nuts to cookie dough. Where you started with lots of pieces, after mixing in with the batter, each cookie may have only one or two. If you mix small seeds with something inert like sand or black pepper as I used here - maybe even some finely crumbled garden soil, each pinch will only contain a few seeds rather than many.

Big Changes on Gramma Rose's Homestead

Finally, after more than two months, the huge oak tree that fell in a storm July 1, 2020, has been removed along with a lot more trees and shrubs. Next spring new grass will grow, but for now, the area that used to be Goldenrod and a Blackberry bramble is bare dirt waiting to be transformed into something wonderful. Gramma's garden has peaked, the chickens have ravaged the tomatoes, and the tomatoes are so heavy the wooden stakes used as supports are falling. Still, the garden is beautiful and is not a failure. There's always next year.

Making Supports for Melons on a Trellis

Melons are appearing on my trellises and I want them to stay there and not fall to the ground and bust open. They need supports to keep gravity from doing its thing. Meet Prunella vulgaris
Переглядів 13 тис.4 роки тому
Prunella vulgaris, aka Self-Heal, is a herb, originally native to the Americas and Eurasia, that has become naturalized on almost every continent. It grows so easily that it's considered invasive in some places such as New Zealand and other Pacific islands. Invasiveness is not a good thing, but if one could choose a plant to grow extraordinarily well, this one would be it. It's a magnificent me...

Very good information 😊cute grand mother
I used the link but canning milk instructions not available. If store bought evaporated milk wasn't full of garbage like carrageenan and other ingredients that i don't want i wouldn't be forced to can my own milk. I don't want bioengineered, ultra processed poison so i will can my own milk out of necessity.
We have sworn by Meat Tenderizer for stings since my great grandparents used it since before I was born, and I am 46 now. Make a paste with it and leave on the sting locations. It’s crazy how a small insect can cause so much discomfort!
Are they cut and come again?
Would other Vitex species have similar effect? We only have V. negundo, which is mostly used as cough medicine (leaves).
Rest in peace 😢
does it mold from the moisture in the leqves whete they touch other leqves?
From another UA-camr she said Lady thumb’s leaves are great for relieving poison ivy itching
Granny Rose. If you come across, can you do a video on wold ginger? I think I have it in my yard ❤!
I’ve been trying to find some of this for my garden In Michigan but I can’t find any stores that sell it
Love this! Not only is it useful, but also funny...and I love how you model your thinking as you are figuring it out!
Omg , I am listening to you and see Betty White ❤
internet hug to you gramma
I didn’t top off my henbit in a quart jar, 10 days passed and it is very dark, the vodka and henbit, I added some more henbit and topped the jar with vodka, is it still okay, I mean did it oxidize in 10 days cause the vodka was not to top,,,,, I did cover it when it was half full. I enjoyed your video, I’m not seeing a lot about after it has set a few months? 💗❤️
I have a hibiscus that I have not identified. When I did a Google image search I found this one. My leaves are also serrated edged, but they’re more teardrop shaped. Also, my flowers seem to be a little bit longer, but they also do not fully open. same color though any idea what it could be?
14:49 this video made my day. What an awesome lady!!
Thank you🌷🌼🌻Enjoy listening to your channel💗
I loved hearing that rooster crowing in the background! So apropos for a celosia cockscomb flower! Maybe she just had the plume variety but still funny!
The creeping fig section is at 6:45 on the timeline. She shows the damage to the siding and gives a written description in the intro. the beginning of the video is a little tour of her charming garden. Thanks Gramma Rose for sharing!
Hope you’re doing okay! Sorry to hear this.
Love this thank you!!
Very great video! Cant wait to make a seed stock!

Here in india we get mosquito attack insteed of grasshoppers in the garden 😊
They grow on the street cracks here. Been unsuccessful trying to grow them from the seeds and cuttings. I don't want eat those on the streets LOL.
When you pressure cook the milk it turns into evaporated milk and changes colour same as ideal milk which you mostly use for baking.
Thank you so much for your very well explained tutorial, especially the heel flap and gusset. I'm still learning and have found your tutorial the best.
beautiful
They came in my garden bed. Lol I googled a flower and this video came up. I subbed hope u can help me more.
If you’re so inclined perhaps you could make feathered brooches and/or hat bands. I rarely see such things to accessorize with anymore ❤
Beautiful. I don’t have very many feathers but I do have 3 hens and I decorate wreaths. Granny Rose I think you have great ideas! Thanks for the inspiration 😊
Thank you Grandma Rose 🌹 🌈
A received a celosia plant as a gift last the spring from a friend who passed away a couple of weeks ago. I was searching for a way to keep the plant alive and found your wonderful tutorial. Thank you! The circle of life!
Miss you Gramma Rose.
Thank you for sharing :-) and I am always getting distracted by spiders and I have apparently passed that on to my family members as well because now I get photos and videos of them all over the place :-)

Thanks Gramma Rose for the video! Celosia is one of my favorite flowers.
The plant that saves p0ison - Anti p0ison The leaf of this plant is a powerful anti-poison. Plant name: Talinum paniculatum Take a single leaf of this plant and eat it before going to a ceremony or to enemy land. Even if your food has been poisoned, you will have practically nothing. Otherwise, eat a leaf of this plant when you return, if you suspect you are poisoned. Super efficient
The Australian version is Commelina Cyanea, which is edible (but not especially tasty). The flowers are the same superb saturated pure blue.
I just love Jewels. They are so whispy in the gardens. I'm in zone 5 and brought mine in to overwinter and it did fine. It is quite large now so might try cuttings this year. Thanks Gramma from another Meme!

HA HA HA 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You actually bought this? I got thousands of these plants growing everywhere This plant does grow like a weed. It all started with 1 growing with my Bird of Paradise, & in 1 season the plants have spread all over my greenhouse & property. This is a tropical perennial, that grows a tuberous root like carrots. In the winter the plant dies back down to the roots & resprouts in spring. The seeds germinate everywhere in everything. I don't have a single potted plant that doesn't have one of these growing in it. The plant is also extremely easy to grow from cuttings.
Thank you so much for the tutorial! It's my first year growing them, and this helped a lot! I really thought you lost the seeds when the insect landed on you, but great save!
I love the content and Elvis is a ham! All the roosters going at it in the background - sounds like my house. 😂
Do you know which type of Celosia that is?
I only need to know re.Jewels of opar but I don't like any payments or charge.
Yes Mam. The ghetto way we did corn em was directly on the coil element stove.. gotta be quick on that note :)
